The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment, has unveiled ambitious plans to attract 19 million tourists to the Red Sea coast by 2030.

This initiative, outlined in the “Invest in Coastal Tourism” report, is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 strategy aimed at diversifying the nation’s economy away from oil dependence and positioning the Kingdom as a global tourism hub.

The plan seeks to develop a thriving coastal tourism sector that will contribute SAR 85 billion (approximately $23 billion) to Saudi Arabia’s GDP by 2030.

SRSA aims to capture 30% of the Kingdom’s leisure tourism market and 40% of its entertainment spending, while also creating more than 210,000 jobs in the hospitality, environmental services, and infrastructure sectors.

The report emphasizes sustainability, with a strong focus on protecting the Red Sea’s marine ecosystem, which is home to some of the world’s most pristine coral reefs.

The SRSA is committed to fostering investment in eco-friendly tourism infrastructure and encouraging both local and international investors to engage in developing high-end resorts, eco-lodges, and cultural attractions.

The Red Sea coastline, stretching over 1,800 kilometers, offers a diverse array of activities ranging from cultural tourism to adventure sports, making it a key component of Saudi Arabia’s goal to attract 150 million visitors annually by 2030.

SRSA’s efforts align with the global trend toward coastal and sustainable tourism, aiming to create a destination that balances economic growth with environmental stewardship.

This development is expected to position the Red Sea as a premier global destination, further solidified by the Kingdom’s investments in improving infrastructure and regulatory frameworks to support tourism growth
